The challenge

Every blood drive donation collected nationwide must be carefully and quickly transported from thirty-five regional sites to one of three central laboratories. Upon arrival, each unit undergoes rigorous testing for infectious diseases and other medical conditions before being processed into life-saving blood products for hospital distribution.

These essential blood products are delivered daily from the labs to medical facilities across the United States, supporting critical patient care every single day. Throughout this process, strict FDA-mandated turnaround time (TAT) limits must be met, requiring flawless coordination and adherence at every step to guarantee safety, compliance, and rapid response.

The solution

To address the challenge, comprehensive logistics planning and management were implemented to ensure all blood deliveries met the rigorous safety specifications required by the healthcare industry and its patients.

Next flight out (NFO) and next drive out (NDO) solutions were provided around the clock across the US for immediate pick-up and delivery of blood donations. In critical situations, air charters were arranged within one hour, facilitating rapid response not only domestically but worldwide.

Strict temperature control standards were maintained during every stage of transit, ensuring the integrity of the blood supply. Contingency planning was carried out to guarantee that blood supplies were replenished every day of the year at all client locations and hospitals.

Chain of custody protocols were rigorously enforced at every step to safeguard both safety and integrity throughout the entire process.
